Privacy Policy
Chickpea Baby is a baby tracker for parents. You log your baby's sleep, feeds, diapers and more, and the app turns those logs into predictions and summaries. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have. In short: we collect only what the app needs to work, we never show ads, we never track you across other apps or websites, and we never sell your data.

What we collect

We don't collect your location, contacts, photos, advertising identifier or browsing activity. The app has no analytics or advertising software in it. We use your IP address only to limit abuse when a phone registers, and we don't store it with your data. Our server logs record technical events with opaque IDs only. They never include your baby's name or the contents of your logs.
Voice logging and AI features (optional)
Chickpea AI is off by default. A parent can turn it on in Settings, and turn it off again at any time.
- Voice logging. Speech is turned into text on your iPhone, and the audio never leaves your device. If Chickpea AI is on, the text is sent to our server, which removes your baby's names it knows about and asks an AI model to turn it into log entries. Nicknames or misheard names can't always be removed, so avoid saying other private details.
- Daily and weekly summaries. If Chickpea AI is on, our server sends the AI model only computed statistics (for example, "total sleep 14.2 hours, up 0.5"). It never sends names, birth dates or your raw logs. The summary refers to your baby by a placeholder, and the name is filled in only when the summary is shown to you.
We use Anthropic's Claude models for these features. Anthropic processes the data on our behalf, does not use it to train its models, and deletes it after at most 30 days.
Who helps us run Chickpea Baby
- Cloudflare hosts our server and database, which store your synced data.
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple, push notifications and on-device speech recognition.
- Anthropic provides the optional AI features described above.
These providers process data only to provide their service to us. We don't sell or rent personal data, share it for advertising, or give it to data brokers.
How we protect your data
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Your family's data can only be read with your family's credentials. It is not end-to-end encrypted, because our server needs to read your logs to compute predictions and summaries.
How long we keep it
- We keep your data while you use the app.
- If you delete your account in Settings, we delete it from our database right away. When the last parent in a family deletes their account, the family and all its logs go too. Copies in our database backups expire within 30 days.
- If nobody in a family has used the app for 24 months, we delete that family's data. We can't warn you first, because we don't have your email address.
Your choices and rights
- Export: download all your data as CSV or JSON from Settings, at any time.
- Correct: edit or delete any entry in the app.
- Delete: delete your account from Settings. If you're the last parent, your family's data is deleted too.
- AI: turn Chickpea AI on or off in Settings.
- Notifications: turn them off in Settings or in iOS Settings.
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, California or Washington), you may also have the right to access, correct, delete or move your data, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to complain to your data protection authority. Email us to use any of these rights, and we'll answer within 30 days. Under the GDPR, we process your data to provide the service you asked for (contract), and the optional AI features and health-related data with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by turning the feature off or deleting your data.
Health data
Your logs can count as health data under some laws, such as Washington's My Health My Data Act. We collect and use it only to provide the app's features to you. We never sell it or use it for advertising, and we share it only with the service providers listed above.
Children
Chickpea Baby is for parents and caregivers, not children. The data about a baby is entered by their parent or caregiver. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children under 13, and the app doesn't record a child's voice or images.
International transfers
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If a change matters, we'll also tell you in the app before it takes effect.
